Lullabies. If you don’t have at least one kid, when was the last time you really thought about lullabies? Ted is such a happy baby, he rarely requires the soothing of my horribly out-of-practice voice. But, he has recently developed a dislike of hanging out in the bathroom while I shower; I think he gets annoyed that he can’t see me, so he starts to squirm and whine a little bit, No fear – I was a band weenie!
Right – and now absolutely nothing appropriate or fun is coming to mind. Except for “Soft Kitty”. Yup, I have, on multiple occasions, sung “Soft Kitty” from the Big Bang Theory to Ted. In case you’ve never seen or heard this little ditty, here are a series of excerpts from episodes on YouTube. Ted seems to love it! He calms right down when I start to sing, and having him being happier buys me a few minutes to think of other songs to sing to him, like normal stuff like “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”. Oddly, I think Ted prefers “Soft Kitty”.
